Dear Students,
Hello! My name is Rose Nelessen, and I am an English teacher at WMAA. I absolutely love my job! It will be a rare day that you see me walking the halls without that cheesy grin showcased on the left.
I am originally from Merrill, Wisconsin, which is a small town about three hours straight north of Madison. I moved to Grand Rapids to go to school at Calvin College and eventually fell in love with West Michigan. I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. My dad taught math and science classes for a while, and my mom has worked in education for my entire life as either a principal or a teacher; I guess you could say it is in my blood.
I graduated from Calvin College in December of 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education, English with a minor in English as a Second Language. During my time at Calvin College, I was highly involved in campus life, and am passionate about building community through servant leadership. I love interacting with kids outside of the classroom, so expect to see me at a lot of school events. If you have not seen me at an event and you want me to come see what you do, let me know! I want to support you!
My favorite part about being a teacher is the daily interaction I get to have with my students. I love hearing your stories and watching you grow into kindhearted and spunky adults. I cannot wait to see all the amazing things you will do. Oh the places you'll go!
I feel extremely blessed to have you in my life.
Sincerely,
Miss Nelessen
